I just announced my leaving of DCF in the congrats thread. Here's a screenshot of my last post - I'm sure it will be either edited or deleted. Anybody is free to use my TAE LAE-tombstone wherever they please, too.

Yep, Sock removed the part about you leaving the forums and labeled it as "Off-topic spam". *rolls eyes* How is a user announcing that they're planning on leaving considered spam? Isn't that something other users would want to know so they don't try to PM you or contact you via the DC forums?

I am new to DCF, well, new to any of such kind of 'attached to a game' forum, but there's so much that I don't understand there. Loads of times I read that it should be a place without hostility, open to everyone, friendly and whatnot, but at the same time posts are edited, all criticism is really bad looked at. I get that mods are important, their work is needed (to some extent), rules are set up for something, but hey, DCF feels really uncool for me right now. I simply don't like being there, eventhough I met some really kind and interesting people on it. I guess I shouldn't be bothered that much.

Isn't that something other users would want to know so they don't try to PM you or contact you via the DC forums? Yep. I even got warned for it. What a surprise. /sarcasm On my birthday, no less. (Yep. I got the message today (my local time). And I started playing DC one day before my birthday. Well, happy birthday to me. May I put "DCF mods act like self-important, holier-than-thou imbeciles" into my signature here? Because they do. @ewi: DCF (DC forums) are full of hostility and drama, with the mods making sure that everyone openly criticizing any one of them in any way, shape or form gets warned, ends on post moderation or simply leaving. The forums sure are open to people who behave like good little dummies and do as the mods say. I've been on DCF for almost 5 years, my anniversary will be in eight days. I won't be there. And even when I just started, the mods - though some of them different people - were the same. Quelching discussion, deleting posts and whole threads for no better reason that that they felt like it ("It was sooo much work, all those reports. No, you can't see the posts any more, we edited them and the users then went and deleted them *whine*. Users are so eeevil!") Today, I went back once to clear my inbox - Sock's love letter - aka warn notice - included. That one was deleted without being read. (I'm sure she tracks her messages. Let her see how it feels to be ignored. I wonder - will I get another warn for ignoring an older warn? I wouldn't put it past the mods on DCF. But I digress. No, I'm on a rant.) I will come back sporadically to look at my inbox, and because I arranged for some holiday trades and mostly gifts for Halloween and Christmas. Some people would be really disappointed to not see the hollies I promised - some on my daughter's behalf. (She agreed to breed hers for some people, too. Yes, I actually asked her every single time before promising her hollies' eggs. I'm not playing her scroll. But I do gift stuff to her, and it's usually a very quick pickup because I ask her if she wants a certain egg before putting it in a teleport. Just saying.)

It's probably not worth coming back for if you weren't enjoying the forums, but after some outsiders joined the fray we did finally get the clear, professional post we were waiting for, saying that 2-ways would definitely stay forbidden but PMs might be considered. I doubt it will get past the new thread moderators, who seem to have a more gift-oriented take on the thread, but hopefully we'll be able to start it back up here. For me it never was about gifting, although I hope my eggs did make someone happy. It was about pooling trades so that everyone could get something they wanted, even if they didn't have anything the original owner was interested in. Which was nice, as I often found things I didn't even know I was looking for and I think everyone came out with something they liked a lot. Sorry I've been quiet around here, but I'm hoarding BSAs and finishing up some IOUs before Halloween and have been scroll-locked for pretty much all of October. When this is over, however, I will finally be able to breed 4th gen prizes, so it will all be worth it. Hopefully.
EDIT: Oh, but you're missing some new drama about the encyclopedia. People were upset their current eggs didn't count and they had to start over. Which I get. It seems like the sort of scavenger hunt that I'd have loved as newbie, but am not particularly interested in now that I've figured out which dragon is which on my own. But at the same time it is a cool roleplay-esque idea so I'm reserving judgment until I figure out how much of a nuisance this thing is going to be.

Actually, filling the Encyclopedia doesn't take that long if you have a fast Internet (I can understand people with slow Internet and/or not enough time, though).
I managed to fill nearly everything in five hours, and I'm only missing a few breed details (which should be easy once I find a scroll with hoards of frozen hatchies).
PS. Clicking through mod scrolls is a good way to get your Encyclopedia filled. I did Rubyshoes's scroll and that helped tremendously. And when you need to click hatchies, CTRL+F for "hatchling" and bam, you'll breeze through thousands of dragons in no time at all.

I didn't exactly miss the drama. I just chose not to reply to anything - even though there were some instances where I wanted to add "Idiots" to some thread or other. Especially when I saw Whitebaron's and Starscream's idiotic parroting of what the mods said, eg. go pester the thread operators. Even if they had to adhere to the rules the mods set.
It's also nice to know that the mods only need 13 days to give a clear statement of what might eventually be considered acceptable, if at all. (If anybody finds any irony or sarcasm in this statement, they're free to keep it.)
I also noticed Melisande's post stating that she's gone from DC now. I just wonder why the mods didn't even bother to delete her post, much less warn her for it while I got both kinds of treatment. But yeah, I'm beyond caring.

Thanks for the tip, Beldarius! I tried it and was able to get much farther using mod scrolls as you suggested.
And yeah, Olympe, that was probably a good call. I'm glad we finally got the post...but that's the response we should have gotten when the complaints started, not 13 days later. I'm not a fan of the new TAE/LAE, but I do feel a bit badly for the mods, who had to guess blindly what the admins would and would not approve. Which I suspect is why we got such cautious rules.

I'm not complaining about the people who restarted and operate the new TAE LAE. They were bound by what the mods refused to decide. Which is exactly the point I made time and again, especially when the whole "Take it to the thread mods" thing started. It wasn't their call in the first place, so why bother them? It's the DCF mods who made the rules.
Anyway, anybody having had a look at the rare trading thread over at DCF? People really are amazing. A mere 2-3 new Halloween eggs/hatchies for a 4th gen prize dragon. 4 or more for a 3rd gen. Wow. Not that I'd want to call anybody greedy - but really? Even long-time players cannot amass more than 7 without further trading.

Even long-time players cannot amass more than 7 without further trading. I did trade 4 of mine for a third gen, but I consider it well worth it, as I got to request a non-perfect stair that most likely no one will like but me and I don't really horde holidays. The much harder request I fulfilled was raising 18 hatchings for my first 3G shimmer, when I wasn't sure I'd ever have another chance to get one. Of course because karma hates me, he misgendered and within a few weeks I managed to trade for three more 3Gs (1 for the halloweens, 1 for a CB silver I didn't really need and 1 for raising another 8 zombie fodder babies. I really profited from my dislike of zombies this year xD), but I like him anyway and raising the hatchlings was actually kind of fun, although I am very glad to have my scroll back to myself. I just fulfilled a second very tough IOU, for a CB gold in exchange for a future holly, and it was, surprisingly, much, much easier than the hatchie horde (certainly easier than trying for the Contest) and only took a couple of days of cave stalking. And hey, now I know how to catch CB rares, which is nice. If anyone needs an unbreedable or anything else that's not a metal or a trio, feel free to let me know as now that I'm really cave hunting I frequently have extras I'd be happy to share. Sorry this is a somewhat chatty post, but the holidays were busy and there really aren't many places in DC for discussing what goes on there. Somewhat off topic, I now have this egg: dragcave.net/lineage/had3h whose mother's name I despise. I don't know why anyone would do that. I actually dumped this exact egg back into the AP, because I did not want "Hitler" in my lineages, but traded for it again after all my other pumpkins gendered female as it's the only PB male currently available. So, in compromise, I named it "Zionist ". Hopefully it doesn't get me in trouble, because it does indeed make me happier. His mate's family had a theme I followed out of respect, so she's just called "Hallowed Hopes" but my 4G is now "Sword of Jerusalem" (although I will change it if the parents' owners ask and have made sure my username is visible on my scroll. I do not want anyone else made uncomfortable.)

...I got my 3rd gen Shimmer without sacrificing any of my new Halloweens. XD I simply had a CB Silver and CB Brown Copper and traded both for the Shimmer.

I traded a CB silver at one point as well, but I remain very happy with my Halloween trade. I honestly just wanted one male and one female of the new Halloweens and I have them, with the codes I wanted. I guess I'm just not much of a CB hoarder in general.

Re: Thread:I know that neither Pippy nor Quis are involved with the new thread. I got a tip that moderators run the thread now. PMs are now accepted, but this comes a little too late for me. Just too much negativity hanging around. I haven't really been back over there nearly as much anyway due to Halloween and then the Encyclopedia. I think I have filled in all the available entries so far except for ND. ——————————————————— Anyway, anybody having had a look at the rare trading thread over at DCF? People really are amazing. A mere 2-3 new Halloween eggs/hatchies for a 4th gen prize dragon. 4 or more for a 3rd gen. Wow. Not that I'd want to call anybody greedy - but really? Even long-time players cannot amass more than 7 without further trading. I actually got PM'd by someone asking—bless her heart, English is not her first language, the syntax was confusing at first—if I would be willing to trade a 4th Gen Gold Shimmer for some Desipsis (sp? I'll memorize it eventually) hatchlings. It felt out of the blue; I'm not sure what prompted it. xD But I said sure, I could do that, how many did she want to offer. She ended up giving a very generous offer. As this was on top of picking an egg off the AP and trading a hatchie for a CB Copper, I have a healthy amount of those angry dragons now. Or, unhealthy, given their personalities and powers… ——————————————————— Not much else for me to talk about at the moment. Working on my lineage project again now that Halloween is over, though it's been hard for me to trade my Silvers. I guess we'll see how this round goes.
